ROYAL CUSTOM SEAT COVER

by

I’m stash-busting my drafted posts, so even those this project is from 2010 it’s still new to you! And also, I still really like this design.

I really enjoyed doing this seat cover for a client of Villy Customs. Ms. Regan Carlile was so specific as to what she wanted that I knew if I could deliver she’d be pleased as pie. My favorite part was that she requested “cognac” colored siding… Cognac colored lycra?! What’s not to love?

I even got some gold and brown elastic for the underside of the cover.

Fleetwood did a great job making another beautiful cruiser, and I’m glad to be a part of this project.

BLOPPY BLOPPY SQUIDY

by

Today my youngest nephew turns 5! I don’t have photos of his birthday gift (it’s not 100% finished), but I would like to share what I made for Kaden’s birthday in 2011: a robot squid!

I called him Squidy, but Kaden renamed him Bloppy Bloppy, which is pretty awesome too.

The body is made from a thin green jersey over gold vinyl. Its inner body is a strange ruffled polyester, of which I have been hoarding several yards of for quite some time. The tentacles each have a different ribbon or time, and the arms have button suction cups.

The eyes puff out and the mouth is a silver robot mouth because it just felt like the right thing to do.

Happy birthday Kader-tot!

PINK GENIE PANTS

by

Work has been a little slow relaxed lately, and I’ve been taking advantage of the break to finish projects that are cluttering up my cutting table.

I really loved wearing genie pants at Burning Man this year, and I’m trying to resist my typical urge to make 20 pairs for the week-long festival. I can be minimal-ish with my everyday wardrobe, but I have zero restraint when it comes to costumes and playa wear. These pants are basically the same as my original set, but fuller! Before I gathered it into the waistband, the top was about 80″ wide. It’s wonderfully ridiculous.

The jersey has such wonderful drape and movement! I’m completely hypnotized by the stripes!

I know it’s a lot of pictures, but I love them all and it’s my blog. It was a little awkward taking these pictures in the alley by myself; when my husband is holding the camera it’s obvious to passers-by what’s going on. It looks a little strange when I’m jumping around in front of a stack of boxes with a tiny tripod on top.

The pink stripes are a cotton jersey that I also made a dress from.
