TURBAN TORNADO

by

I love wearing turbans. They’re dramatic and classy, and take an outfit to the next level. And the way I made them, they are colorful and silly, especially when paired with the right pair of glasses.

This is one of my favorites, and it looks great with my Miimii dress. The cobalt thread against the metallic gold reminds me of lapiz scarab jewelry, so I called this design “Cleopatra.” I would totally be OK if this one never sold, but if it does find a new home I’ll just have to make myself another one.

This Tiffany-teal velvet is so gorgeous. The ruffles on this one remind me of either a brain or a coral.

All jersey, perfect for summer. Colors inspire me, especially when they’re remixed into different combinations. The fuchsia thread looks neon against the coral and mustard.

These were super great at Burning Man. Just tuck your head inside and your hair stays clean while you look awesome. I’m really pleased at the great response these are getting. You can get your own in my Etsy shop.

MASKED BURNERS

by

I don’t want to drown this blog with pictures of my Burning Man gag masks, but here are some of my favorites.

Burning Man is held in a desert, which is prone to dust storms, so proper face covering can greatly improve your comfort (just because you can’t see further than 30 feet doesn’t mean you don’t want to party).

And even when the air is clear, these masks are great for freaking out the other Burners on the dance floor.

I use recycled fabrics for the bases, and pick the elastic, zipper, and threads to suit my mood. The straps are adjustable bra straps, so each mask is pretty comfortable.

They are all up in my Etsy shop now! [the green one sold out already!]

STORY OF THE RUNNING WOLF

by

Back in March I was contacted by one of the members of Story of the Running Wolf to make a centaur costume for their upcoming music video. I had a great time working with Jeff on the design. The glorious beast makes his first appearance at 1:49.

I’m also an extra in the Masquerade scene, wearing a blue and gold, triangle and spiral jacket (that will be posted after some modifications) and a pink mask.

There was a premiere party last weekend at the Sayer’s Club in Hollywood, which was fancy and had super yummy cupcakes.

I’ve since made more costumes for Jeff and Josh. Our aesthetics really compliment each other, and we all have a good time giggling during fittings (my husband included!).
