ROYAL CUSTOM SEAT COVER

by

I’m stash-busting my drafted posts, so even those this project is from 2010 it’s still new to you! And also, I still really like this design.

I really enjoyed doing this seat cover for a client of Villy Customs. Ms. Regan Carlile was so specific as to what she wanted that I knew if I could deliver she’d be pleased as pie. My favorite part was that she requested “cognac” colored siding… Cognac colored lycra?! What’s not to love?

I even got some gold and brown elastic for the underside of the cover.

Fleetwood did a great job making another beautiful cruiser, and I’m glad to be a part of this project.

CARD HOLDERS AND UPDATES

by

This past weekend I went to Sew LA‘s party for Gertie‘s Guide to Sewing book. It was nice to chat with like-minded sewing ladies, and I certainly enjoyed the homemade cherry pie and rum punch!

Julianne and Gertie signed Gertie book

Of course, Gertie was perfectly charming! She signed my book, and even kept my Sharpie. Technically it was my husband’s Sharpie, so it’s all good. (He is looking over my shoulder as I type this).

Also this weekend, Craftster announced their Best Projects of 2012, and my rainbow wedding boots were chosen! I can’t wait to share the rest of the wedding clothes with everyone; I’m just dragging my feet on organizing all the photos.

I’ve been working on lots of small projects lately, and I don’t really feel like patching holes makes for an interesting blog post. But I did spend several days making all these card holders for Villy Customs. The idea is that when passers-by admire the awesome cruiser they can help themselves to a business card.

I made 50 total! The vinyl packs attach to the spokes with elastic and velcro, which is easy to use and durable for rides. I’ve been testing the design out on my own bike. It’s a more sophisticated version of putting baseball cards in your spokes!

VITAMIN SHOPPE BIKE

by

I’ve been working with Fleetwood at Villy Customs for a couple years now, helping to make his custom cruisers a little more specialized! The bikes are always so gorgeous, and it’s been great to be a part of his company’s growth. I make so many covers for him that I usually don’t post, but I thought this bike for Vitamin Shoppe was worth sharing.

That headbadge is gorgeous! And I love the yellow tires. Bet you want your own custom bike now!

FLEUR DE LOVE BIKE SEAT COVERS

by

I made this post back in March of 2011! The only reason I can imagine that it wasn’t published is because I was waiting for Maria to actually get her seat, and then it just kinda got lost. But it still counts as something I made!

I decided one day to make a new seat cover for my friend Maria, and then I decided to make a new one for myself, and then I figured that while I was at it I might as well make a third, so voila!

I originally came up with this design on the first seat cover I ever made, which was sadly stolen along with the bike it was on last summer. This rendition was enhanced by the liberal application of red and pink glitter, just on the heart, which involved planning out the order of the layers very carefully, and I just love the way it turned out.

Maria’s went off to New Orleans for her birthday, albeit 2 weeks late. She loaned us her bright green cruiser for a couple weeks while we were in town, so I kept her bike in mind while working on her cover. I’m riding around on the cover with the teal sides, and it’s just perfect for my bike. The seat with the blue sides was available in my Etsy shop.

I know that fleur de lis aren’t very popular out here in Los Angeles, but I enjoy the connection I still get to my city by painting our symbol.

ELECTRIC CANDY

by

As awesome as this top looks on me, I actually designed it for a flamboyant gay man wearing fur boots at a rave.

THIS SHIRT WAS MADE FOR A RAVE!

Now when I brought it to work Jordan told me she could see 13 year old girls buying it at the mall, but that’s fine too.

This fabric is so cool! Neon pink mesh with more stretch than you know what to do with, elastic trim at the neck, arm, and bottom, topped off by a bright gold zipper! I’m wearing a tank top for the pictures, but it looks especially awesome with nothing underneath. It’s pure psychedelic psex! You can find it in my Etsy shop.

On a personal note, I’m getting a little batty with all this awesome sewing. I can’t look at a fabric without seeing leggings, and between designing, cutting, sewing, photographing, and posting all of these beautiful things I love to make I haven’t had time to make a single thing for myself, and less than 2 months till the burn! Not that I’m complaining, because I really love what I’m doing, but at some point I need to make a costume for myself!

RUSSIAN STACKING SEAT

by

Matryoshka seem to be popping up all over the popular scene nowadays. I thought they’d be a perfect match for a bicycle, since both are full of so much whimsy and nostalgia of childhood explorations.

I tried to use versatile color schemes for these saddle covers. I think between the red, yellow, blue, and purple these painted covers would look great on just about any bicycle! I also feel like I’ve done a good job creating variety between each cover, so that these dolls are all cousins, not twins!

As always, these covers are handpainted so that each one is unique. They are water-resistant, UV proof, and will stand up to wear. The sides are made out of spandex with elastic at the bottom, and they are lined on the bottom.

They’re up now in my Etsy shop!
